Howard better know in the salsa world, as "Howie", is a self-taught dancer that believes the rhythm of the music is what inspires him to dance. At the age of 16, Howie was introduced to salsa and was fascinated by the elegance of the dance. He became obsessed with the music and learned to dance salsa. His obsession drew him closer to his destiny of dancing with a uniqueness and style all of his very own. Howie achieved this unique style by becoming one with the music as he believes that music, when listened to properly, is very simple. It becomes the foundation of what you're doing on the dance floor. In favor of flexibility and uniqueness Howie stresses the necessity of feeling the music, therefore calling his style universal.
Howie believes that in order to be a successful instructor one must have patience and be a good motivator. Teaching salsa is about learning the clave, emphasis on listening to the music and knowing timing. This is what his teaching focuses on because it allows an individual to be creative and helps bring out his or her own individuality.
